Metal & Water

Kill one, warn a hundred.

Men from all the seas came to pay tribute,
Brought gold and silver and treasures.
Came in great crowds altogether,
Piled up their wealth for the king.

China, which means ‘middle’ of ‘central’ country,
saw itself as the centre of the universe.
It expected all other countries to bring it tribute.
It ruled sternly.
Sometimes this is necessary,
but a gentle approach should follow.
